Preservatives - prevent bacterial and fungal growth

Alternative preservatives. No parabens.

Surfactants - often included in the post-color shampoo or peroxide developer

SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate). A harsh surfactant that can strip protein and protective oils from hair and scalp.

Anti-clumping / opacifier

Titanium dioxide. Some evidence suggests high concentrations of pigment-grade or ultrafine forms may be linked to health concerns.
