Madison Reed Enters Atlanta Market with Three New Color Bars and Unveils Unlimited Roots Membership

Brand opens its first salons in the Southeast

Sep 9, 2020
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Madison Reed, the innovative brand challenging the hair color industry, brings its unique, color-only concept to the Atlanta area with the opening of three new Madison Reed Color Bars. Three Atlanta-area Madison Reed Color Bars are now open at The Forum at Peachtree Corners (opened June 6), Merchant’s Walk in Marietta and the Collection at Forsyth (both opening on Saturday, June 13). They all will open with COVID-19 restrictions in place. Atlanta is the sixth U.S. market to open a Madison Reed Color Bar.

As part of the openings, Madison Reed will debut its unlimited roots membership, which is the first of its kind in the industry. The membership-based program offers customers unlimited roots visits for $55 per month. Customers will receive a free gloss service upon sign-up, which can be redeemed for up to three months. Members will also receive the equivalent of $180 in products or extra services annually:
● Free gift with sign up
● Additional free gloss service added after six months of membership
● Free blowout and gloss service after 12 months of membership
● 20 percent discount off other Color Bar services (can be used with or without a roots service scheduled)
● 10 percent off all retail product purchased in Color Bar and online

“Back in late March and early April, as we were planning to open in Atlanta, we began closing all of our Color Bars across the country because of COVID-19 concerns,” said Amy Errett, CEO and founder of Madison Reed. “To be able to open physical locations now with clear safety protocols in place speaks to a spirit of resilience all around us, and the resilience that is at the heart of Atlanta.”

During the peak of the pandemic, Madison Reed saw its new customers increase dramatically to 12X pre-COVID-19 levels, even as its Color Bars closed. The brand was able to transition all “behind the chair” team members to roles in customer service to keep pace with the surge in demand.

“We are humbled that so many people turned to us,” Errett said. “So many were salon goers or dualists (women who are salon goers as well as at-home colorists) and now we can give them the option of getting their hair colored by a professional colorist as well.”

Madison Reed Color Bars are designed to deliver stunning salon-quality hair color that is both affordable and convenient for time-pressed women with ingredients they can feel good about. For about half the cost of a typical salon visit, clients can get permanent color applied by a certified, licensed colorist.

Since the company’s launch in 2014, hundreds of thousands of women have been able to go online, buy Madison Reed’s salon-quality color and have it shipped directly to their door. Madison Reed’s proprietary formula is free of eight harsh ingredients commonly used by other brands, including PPD, ammonia, parabens, resorcinol, phthalates, gluten, SLS and titanium dioxide. Madison Reed uses technology – including a proprietary algorithm that extracts data from 20 million "hair profiles," as well as an augmented reality (AR) tool – to help women find their perfect shade of hair color. Colorists are also available via phone to provide color-matching as well.

At Madison Reed Color Bars, gone is the typical salon secrecy surrounding how color is mixed. Now Madison Reed clients can buy the exact color formula and products that were just used on their hair. They can also get free color consultations and colorists will teach clients how to color their hair at home – additional industry firsts.

All Madison Reed Color Bars are taking precautions to help limit the spread of COVID-19, which include:
● All colorists and clients are required to wear a mask
● Clients are spaced every other chair, and there will be no more than seven people (colorists and clients) in the salon at the same time
● Each chair is sanitized between clients
● All common areas are cleaned regularly throughout the day and by a professional cleaning service every night
● Open with limited hours Tuesday-Saturday from 10:00 a.m - 6:00 p.m.
● All stylists wear masks, gloves, aprons and are temperature checked prior to their shift

During the initial opening period while social distancing guidelines remain in place, the three locations will operate with limited hours from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday:
● The Forum (Peachtree Corners): 5155 Peachtree Parkway, Suite 323
● Merchants Walk (Marietta): 1311 Johnson Ferry Road, Suite 568
● Collection at Forsyth (Forsyth): 410 Peachtree Parkway, Suite 118

“We are ecstatic to open in Atlanta, and to safely welcome everyone into our Color Bars for a unique, high-quality salon experience,” said Errett.
