Explore the world and learn secrets for beautiful hair! This week, Madison Reed visits Greece to bring you hair care secrets, fashion-forward trends, and fascinating facts.

Whether it’s the four millennia of history at sites like the Parthenon, or the dramatic views on Santorini, Greece is an incredibly eclectic country, with something of interest for everyone. Located right at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and Africa, it’s filled to the brim with beautiful beaches and islands, and a variety of mouth-watering foods (olives and feta cheese–yes, please!). Along with all of the delicious food and ancient culture, there are also ancient beauty rituals that Greek women swear by. Here are just a few fun facts about Greece.

Beauty Tip: Greek Yogurt

It’s not just a good-for-you snack, it’s great for your skin and hair as well. Filled with protein, enzymes and zinc, this natural product lightens acne scars and softens hair. For a glowing face, just apply yogurt and honey and leave it on for fifteen minutes. For shiny hair, apply yogurt on the ends and work your way up to the middle of the hair shaft. Leave it on for thirty minutes and wash it out.

Hair Trend: Beach Waves

Greek women are huge proponents of looking natural, and since there’s so much sunshine and so many gorgeous beaches all over the country, it’s only natural for them to sport beachy waves and glowing sun-kissed skin. This hair trend looks best with naturally straight and wavy hair–
just braid, add some sea salt spray, and go!

Fun Facts:

  1. About 16.5 million tourists visit Greece every year (that’s more than the entire country’s population)!
  2. Greece has more than 250 days of sunshine (3,000 hours a year).
  3. Greece has more archaeological museums than any country in the world.
