Your Friday Reed: Get Ready for the Weekend
Happy Friday the 13th! Get ready for the weekend with fun “spooky” activities for the family and wonderful ways to get more out of life with Madison Reed.
Sunday, 3/15, is Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s birthday, smack dab in the middle of Women’s History Month! A long-time advocate for advancing women’s rights, Ruth became the second female Supreme Court Justice (the first was Sandra Day O’Connor) in 1993.
Celebrate this groundbreaking woman by reading her new biography—The Legacy of Ruth Bader Ginsburg—scrolling through a dedicated blog with delicious attitude, getting the slyly subversive Notorious R.B.G. t-shirt, and checking out her custom LEGO figure likeness.
Here’s an idea for Friday the 13th family fun: set the scene with easy DIY chalk outlines, grab a flashlight, turn the lights down low, and take turns telling ghost stories. If you really want to commit, you could adopt a black cat, too. They’re actually good luck in many cultures!
It’s hard to open up and show people the challenges in your life when everybody else seems to be perfect in their Facebook posts. A new Instagram account called @WomenIRL (IRL stands for “in real life”) encourages us to bond over the messy, real moments that happen to everyone.
